About me

Sharing your passion for birds

Hello, my name is Ebrima Sidibeh. I am a Gambian bird guide based in Kotu and have been leading tours in The Gambia and Senegal for 29 years. I am passionate about birds and birding, and hold a leading position within the Gambia Birdwatchers Association, giving me great links to the birding community. In my own time I'm constantly exploring new sites in the search for great viewing and photography opportunities for iconic West African species - there's still plenty out there yet to be discovered! The experience I have built up over a lifetime's love of birds has given me a deep understanding of their ecology and behaviour, meaning that I can guarantee a highly memorable trip for photographers, wildlife enthusiasts and avid birders alike.

Conservation

In my personal time, you'll find me spending time with my family at home, or taking my children out on adventures to look for birds and other wildlife.

I recognise the importance of passing on my knowledge and sharing my passion for the natural world, and so spend a lot of time training up younger guides and teaching lessons on birds in schools.

I organise conservation days around Kotu Creek to ensure that this famous birding site is able to flourish amidst growing human impacts. Most recently we had to spend days digging a channel to re-supply water to the creek following years of silt accumulation.
